Should we open on Saturday afternoon?

Posted on March 29th, 2011

It has been suggested that it would be really convenient for some villagers if the shop could remain open until late afternoon each Saturday.

What do YOU think?

Yes I think we should, but I just don't know if we can 'man' the shop for as many hours as I think we might have customers for; I'd say until 3pm?

Yes the shops NEEDS to be open more. I have tried 3 times to purchase goods and each time it as shut!So got bored of trying, just online now to check opening times before I head off to the shop again just to make sure it's not a 4th wasted journey. The revolution of corner shops succeeded by it's ability to be convenient and part of that was being open when people wanted it. Early starts and late finishes are standard for convenience corner shops and for a person working full time the hours currently aren;t much use. I would certainly use the shop a lot more if I was able to.

Yes I would agree that the shop needs to be open longer on a Saturday afternoon, till 3pm or 3.30pm would be a good compromise, particularly as the Butcher is open until that time on a Saturday. Also during the summer our campers do not arrive until after 1pm and very often ask about the village shop. Sadly on a Saturday I have to direct them to Draycott!!

Hello

May be wrong but many of us on Sats and Suns get up much later than weekdays. At least I do
in which case shutting at 1200 hours(sorry midday) seems far too early. Perhaps 0900to 1300
hours might be a better idea but still keeping the same hours??.

I regret that I now go to Draycott Postoffice on Sats to get my weekend papers - because either
you are shut at 1200 or run out of papers(Daily Telegraph).

Dear Brian,
Unless you bike/walk to Draycott I suggest it may be cheaper and more environmentally agreeable to have your papers delivered !!!!
